BSU Student Portal: Benue State University is situated in Benue State. With two libraries (a general University Library and a Law Library), vibrant faculties, and several awards, Benue State University is also known as BSU is recognized for excellence.

The Benue State University was founded in 1992 and served 306 students with 149 faculty. The university was established by the state government to augment the specialized academic offerings of the University of Agriculture. In 1991, the state government formed a 13-member steering committee to plan for and obtain approval for the university.

The Benue State University portal is designed to give its users access to useful information. For the BSU portal login, students must enter their matriculation number and password in the text box.

Applicants can use the portal by entering their UTME registration number. BSU staff and alumni can access the necessary data by entering theIR username and password.

Direct Entry Admission Requirements at BSU

Candidates who wish to gain admission through direct entry into the Benue State University (BSU) must meet the following requirements:

• Candidates must possess at least five (5) Credits in their O’level result. This must include English Language and Mathematics. However, two sitting result is not allowed.
• Candidates must have also reached the age of 16.
• Candidates are expected to get JAMB Directly entry form from JAMB to apply.
• Candidates should have any of the following certificates: OND, ND, NCE, IJMB, Cambridge A level, BSc, HND, ICAN

BSU Direct Entry Admission Screening

• Visit the BSU website www.bsum.edu.ng and click on the Admissions menu
• Under Application, click Post UTME/DE link and enter Registration number to verify profile details.
• Once the details are verified, candidates are to click on the “proceed” link to generate and print out the payment reference slip.

UTME Admission Requirements at BSU

To gain admission into the Benue State University in 2025, UTME candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Candidates must have reached the age of 16.
• Candidates must have at least 6 (six) “Cs (Credits)” grades in their O’level result (s). This must include English Language, Mathematics and three other subjects related to their course of study. For instance, a Candidate that wants to study law must have a “C” in English Language, Mathematics, Government/History, Economics, and Literature in English.
• Candidates must score at least 200 in the JAMB UTME examination
• Candidates must take BSU post UTME screening examination and must perform very well in the examination(Depending on the course of study)
• Not more than ONE sitting results is accepted for admission into the Benue State University (BSU)
• Candidates must choose the correct subject combination for their courses.
• Finally, candidates must meet the stipulated cutoff marks for their courses to gain admission into the university.

BSU Screening Procedures and Registration 

1. Check for your admission on the Benue State University Portal and print details on payment of N400 using the e-payment platform (with a link on the University website) or at the designated banks.

2. Proceed to pay the acceptance fee of Five Thousand, Five Hundred naira (N5,500) non-refundable to Benue State University, Makurdi using the e-payment platform or at the designated banks.

3. Proceed to upload the following documents on the BSU portal for on-line screening

• Original academic qualifications.
• Original JAMB Result slip with embossed passport photograph.
• Original Direct Entry Online e-registration printout with embossed passport photograph.
• Birth certificate/declaration of age.
• Certificate of State Origin.
• Proceed to print Admission Letter on the BSU Portal and complete the screening forms Online, print, and sign.
• Proceed to pay the approved tuition fees using the e-payment platform or at the designated banks. This also applies to all successful Preliminary French, Science, and Vocation and Technology Education candidates who have been placed in various degree programs.
