The Federal Government has just announced that schools under its control will not be reopening for the forthcoming West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams.

This was disclosed in a tweet post by the aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi from his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, July 8, 2025.

According to Ogunlesi, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said that WAEC should suspend exams and also urges State Governments to toe the line of the Federal Government as this is not the right time to reopen.

1. Federal Govt Agrees to Pay Private School Teachers Salaries

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reportedly agreed to pay the salaries of private school teachers that are being owed by schools as a result of COVID-19.

This was announced by the President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Yomi Otubela during an appearance on TVC news channel on Monday, July 13, 2025.

According to Otubela, a proposal was presented to the Economic Sustainability Committee headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo after a cry for help by teachers of private schools who have not been paid by their management, since April when schools were shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

2. Veritas University Post UTME / DE Screening Form and Details, 2025

Veritas University is a private university, located in Abuja. It was founded in April 2002 by the Catholic Church in Nigeria.

The school management of the Veritas University, Abuja (the Catholic University of Nigeria) is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates that sat for the last UTME/Direct Entry candidates for admission to degree programmes on a full-time basis in the Colleges and Departments of the University for the 2025/2025 Academic Session.

3. EBSU Post UTME and DE Screening Form for 2025/2025 Session 

This is to inform the general public and especially all the candidates offered provisional admission into the Ebonyi State University (EBSU) for the 2025/2025 academic session, that the institution has announced that all candidates offered provisional admission must pay the approved acceptance fee to accept their admission.

Interested candidates who must have scored 160 and above in the 2025/2025 UTME and who made Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki their first choice Institution and other candidates willing to change to EBSU should follow the procedure below to generate a payment invoice.

4. Fed Poly Nekede Post UTME Admission Form for 2025/2025 Session

All 2025/2025 UTME candidates who applied to Federal Polytechnic  Nekede, Owerri as an institution of first or second choice with a UTME score of 180 and above.

They are to purchase the screening form for a fee of ₦2,000, payable on the Remita platform at any branch of any commercial bank nationwide. All submissions and payments must be completed on or before 31st August 2025.

Note: Candidates who used the institution as 2nd or 3rd choice must change to Federal Polytechnic Nekede as their first choice before they will be considered for admission and also note that any wrong information given disqualifies the candidates.

5. IAUE Post UTME Form and Screening Details for 2025/2025 Session

This is to invite all UTME and Direct Entry (DE) candidates of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education for the 2025/2025 admission exercise.

UTME candidates who scored 160 and above in the JAMB Examination including those that did not choose the institution and are willing to change and Direct Entry Candidates to commence registration using the registration link on the portal as contained in the advertisement.

The registration will commence on Tuesday, 14th July 2025, and close on Friday, August 13th, 2025. The registration fee is N2, 000.00 only.

6. Veritas University Postgraduate Admission Form for 2025/2025 Session

The College of Post-graduate Studies, Veritas University, Abuja, (the Catholic University of Nigeria) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates from recognized Institutions for admission into the Post-graduate programmes.

Application Guide:

  • Candidates should visit Veritas website at www.veritas.edu.ng and click on “Postgraduate” under academics to download application form and application procedure; or visit the College Office
  • The completed form should be submitted to the “Dean, College of Postgraduate Studies, Veritas University, Abuja”, along with the evidence of payment.

7. 2025 WAEC Should Not Be Cancelled – House of Reps

The House Committee on Basic Education and Services has asked the Federal Government not to cancel the 2025 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The Chairman of the committee, Julius Ihonvbere (APC-Edo), made this know in a statement.

According to him, the position of the committee is that it should not be canceled. He said the committee was amazed at the announcement by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, where he stated that Nigerian students would not be participating in the 2025 WASSCE.

8. UBTH School of Midwifery Admission Form for 2025/2025 Session

This is to inform the general public that applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the school of Midwifery, University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH Benin City for the 2025/2025 session.

Application forms are obtainable from the office of the Principal/Head of Department (School of Midwifery) on presentation of evidence of payment of a non-refundable fee of Ten Thousand, five hundred Naira (N10,500) only payable to UBTH Account with TSA under the service type: Training School of Midwifery using REMITA Platform in any bank in Nigeria.
