School of Pre-Degree and Remedial Studies, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University Katsina wishes to invite candidates to apply for admission into any of the following programmes:

1. Pre-Degree.
2. IJMB .
3. ELIP (English Language Immersion Programme).

Application is open from Monday 2^nd September, 2025.

UMYU Admission Requirements

Pre-Degree Programme

Candidates applying for Pre-Degree Programme must possess at least five (5) Credits in Science including English and mathematics at ‘O’ level.  The subjects combinations offered in the school are:

• Biology, Chemistry, Physics;
• Biology, Physics, Mathematics;
• Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics;
• Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics.

Candidates admitted for the pre-degree programme with deficiency must register and pass at credit level the WAEC, NECO or NABTEB exams in the subject(s) they are deficient.

Candidates admitted for pre-degree programme must also register for the 2025/2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and obtain the minimum UMYU cut off point and must choose Umaru Musa Yar’adua University as their 1^st choice.

The duration of the Programme is one year.

IJMB Programme

Candidates applying for IJMBE Programme must possess at least five (5) ‘O’ level Credits (in 3 basic Science subjects plus English and Mathematics) at not more than two (2) sittings.

However, candidates from educationally less developed States (ELDS) in Nigeria, deficiency in English is considered but the deficiency, however, must be remedied before the end of the IJMBE programme.

The subjects’ combinations for IJMBE is as follows:

• Biology, Chemistry, Physics;
• Biology, Physics, Mathematics;
• Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics;
• Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics.

All IJMB candidates must also register for 2025/2026 JAMB Direct Entry admissions

The duration of the Programme is one year.

ELIP

This is an English Language programme for French speaking and other non-English speaking countries preparatory to admission into the University

• Candidates applying for this programme must possess relevant certificate acceptable to the University.
• The duration of the programme is 6 months of 2 semesters.

HOW TO APPLY FOR UMYU PRE-DEGREE ADMISSION

To register, go to https://collegeportal.umyu.edu.ng/rem/applicant/index

1. Click on ‘Register a new Account’ at the right to fill the registration form. 
2. On successful payment, log on to your profile and edit your application profile (This will require your recent passport photograph and your biodata).
3. Print your exam card.
4. Please always check to confirm if you are shortlisted.
