This is to inform all anticipating applicants that the University of Ilorin, the UNILORIN admission list is out for the 2025/2026 academic session is yet to be released by the school management. This page will give you an idea of what to expect and will be updated when the admission list is released.

Education in Kwara State

Kwara has a federal university, the University of Ilorin, a state university, Kwara State University, and four other privately owned Universities: Al-Hikmah University, Landmark University, Summit University, Crown Hill University, Thomas Adewumi University, Ahman Pategi University, and the University of Offa.

Kwara also has five approved polytechnics; federal polytechnics, Federal Polytechnic Offa, state-owned polytechnics, Kwara State Polytechnic, and three privately owned: The Polytechnic Igbo Owu, Lens Polytechnic, Graceland Polytechnic.

Of the fifteen Colleges of Education in Kwara State, eleven are owned by private establishments, they are:

• College of Education Ilemona.
• Muhyideen College of Education
• Kinsey College of Education
• Ilorin, Kwara State
• Moje College of Education Erin-Ile
• Imam Hamzat College of Education
• CWA College of Education
• College of Education Offa
• Nana Aisha College of Education
• Adesina College of Education
• Pan African College of Education

However, the state government founded three, they are:

• Kwara State College of Education Ilorin
• College of Education Oro
• Kwara State College of Education (Technical) Lafiagi

Also, there is one federal government’s institution offering NCE: Nigeria Army School of Education.

There is also a navy school, Nigerian Navy School of Health Science Irra Road Offa and aviation college, International Aviation College, Ilorin.

About UNILORIN

The University began in 1975 as a University College affiliated to the University of Ibadan. Dr. T.N. Tamuno who was a Professor and Head of the History Department at the University of Ibadan was appointed the first Principal of the College in September 1975.

By December 1975, Tamuno was appointed the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan.

As a result, Professor O.O. Akinkugbe was appointed as the new Principal for the University of Ilorin (then, a University College) in 1975. Akinkugbe was the former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ibadan.

The first set of 200 students were admitted on 23 October 1976 following an entrance examination and academic work started on 25 October 1976 following the Principal’s address.

The University College started with three academic faculties: Arts, Science and Education. The University started off on a portion of the temporary campus of the Kwara State Polytechnic known as the mini-campus.

The mini-campus was the site of academic programs for the Faculties of Arts, Science, Education, Engineering & Technology, Business and Social Sciences, and Basic Clinical Sciences section of the Health Sciences Faculty.

All operations of the University were conducted on the mini-campus until January 1982 when more than 1000 students studying in sciences were moved to the permanent site of the institution following completion of new Faculty blocks and residences for Natural Sciences and Engineering in the site.

In 1983, the law program was established as a Department under the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences. Following a 6-year hiatus, the Law Department was accorded a full-fledged Faculty status in 1993.

Candidates seeking admission into the University of Ilorin are to be checking the JAMB’s CAPS for their admission status from time to time.

They should also always check the TRANSFER APPROVAL option on the JAMB CAPS to know if they’re being transferred to another course.

The authorities University of Ilorin, UNILORIN has released the admission list for the 2025/20261 academic session. All the candidates that participated in the University of Ilorin post UTME screening exercise can now check their admission status online.

Admission lists are the names of successfully admitted applicants offered provisional admission into an institution. Admission lists are usually released by institutions after the conduct of admission screening exercise, it come in different batches: 1st Batch is (Merit List) followed by 2nd, 3rd, and other Batches.

The Online Portal is created for stale and prospective students of the University to create an account or log in to perform certain academic actions at ease.

1. Go to the UNILORIN admission portal at https://uilugportal.unilorin.edu.ng/putme_login.php.
2. Supply your JAMB Registration Number and Surname in the required fields and the click on login.
3. Finally, click on Check Admission Status link to confirm your UNILORIN admission status.
